Lori Powell lives on the coast of Maine where she spends her time on snow in the winter and the rest of the year dreaming her way back to it. She earned a Master’s degree in fiction writing at the University of Washington in Seattle, but soon after returned to poetry, an earlier love. She’s been a baker, waitress, bookkeeper, cashier, pre-school teacher, and most recently a teacher of English to speakers of other languages. Her poems have appeared in The Columbia Review, Little Patuxent Review, The New Guard, and The Portland Press Herald, among other publications. A chapbook, Truth and Lies, was published by Black Buzzard Press. The spirit of her Standard Schnauzer presides over her writing time, growling at anyone who approaches the doorway. She knows she will never be worthy of this.
